NEW
education-focused
session at RNA 2025!

“Training Future Scientists through RNA Research”

This new in-meeting session highlights the important and impactful work of RNA scientists in developing programs that integrate RNA research into training programs – whether formally or informally – in research laboratories, undergraduate courses, or other settings. We are seeking abstracts describing a diverse array of creative approaches, effective strategies, and anticipated (or known) impacts of such programs on participants.

Presentations describing RNA research findings that arose as outcomes of education-focused efforts are welcome, although the educational context of the work should be the primary focus.

Examples of possible topics include (but are not limited to):

  • The structure, outcome, and impact of RNA-centered course-based undergraduate research experiences (CUREs)
  • The development or use of RNA research tools or infrastructure that are exceptionally well-suited for educational settings
  • Mentoring and/or professional development programs for undergraduate trainees in RNA research
  • Outreach efforts to promote broad participation in RNA research and/or education

Who should submit an abstract?

Anyone interested in showcasing their educational efforts, engaging in greater discussion, or gaining thoughtful feedback on their education-based activities – including:

  • Faculty and staff from research-intensive universities and Primarily Undergraduate Institutions (PUIs), both inside and outside the USA
  • Education program coordinators at biotech companies or research institutes

**Please select “Training Future Scientists through RNA Research” as your presentation topic when submitting your abstract through the RNA 2025 abstract submission portal.

  • Abstracts not selected for oral presentation will be slotted for a poster presentation
  • Abstracts can also be submitted directly for poster presentation

Why should I attend this new session?

  • Spark new ideas to complement your own initiatives in training and engaging future RNA scientists
  • Gain insights into what is possible through undergraduate-powered research
  • Expand your awareness of new tools and infrastructure that could be used to augment and deepen RNA education and research
  • Identify possible collaborators to enhance your Broader Impacts for future grant proposals

How is this session distinct from the pre-meeting workshop “Bridging the Gap in RNA Education”?

We are thrilled to offer TWO education-related events at RNA 2025. This in-meeting session is a standard oral presentation session within the general meeting and will complement the pre-meeting workshop by offering opportunities for individuals to present details of their own educational initiatives and/or learn about the specific efforts and resources developed by others.

Questions related to this in-meeting session can be sent to Session Chair, Suzanne Lee at suzanne.lee@nullwwu.edu.
