Research Presentation Fellowship Program
The RNA Society Research Presentation Fellowship Program aims to increase inclusion and participation at our annual meeting by providing a $1,000 USD credit for hotel accommodations at our meeting site (the Town & Country Resort and Convention Center) during the duration of the meeting. Fellowships will be prioritized and awarded to current RNA Society members who would otherwise be unable to attend RNA 2025 due to financial considerations.
RNA Society Research Presentation Fellowships are available to current RNA Society members presenting either an oral or poster presentation at RNA 2025 (as first or senior author). Applications for Fellowships will be assessed based on career stage, financial need and expected total meeting costs; the Fellowship Selection Committee may prioritize awards according to geographical location to offset travel-associated expenses and/or to encourage participation of underrepresented scientists. Please note that need exceed funds for this program and submission of an application does not guarantee funding. Only one Fellowship will be awarded per research group/lab and applicants who received support through this program in the previous 3 years are not eligible to apply.
Applications require:
- A brief Statement of Benefit (250 words or less) describing your career stage and how attending the 2025 RNA Society Annual Meeting will benefit your training and/or career goals.
- Your scientific abstract for oral or poster presentation (indicating applicant as first or senior author). Note, abstracts submitted for consideration are not entered into the conference registration portal – you will be required to submit your abstract at the time of meeting registration to be included in the meeting program.
- Letter of Recommendation from your current research advisor (for Undergraduate, Graduate Student or Post-doctoral Fellows) addressing the scientific merit of the applicant’s research and justification for financial assistance to attend RNA 2025 (letter must be 1 page or less, on institution letterhead and include the advisor’s signature).
- Abbreviated Curriculum Vitae of the applicant (maximum 2 pages). Please include your RNA Society membership number (current in 2025) in this document.
Applications for RNA Society Research Presentation Fellowships must be submitted by February 16th, 2025 in order to be evaluated and be notified of your selection prior to the RNA 2025 oral abstract submission deadline of February 28th, 2025. Successful applicants will be notified by e-mail by February 25th, 2025.
Upon notification, RNA Society Research Fellowship winners will be provided a $1,000 USD credit for hotel accommodations at our meeting site (the Town & Country Resort and Convention Center) during the duration of the meeting. Fellowship winners will be required to make reservations at the Town and Country and secure their room prior to April 1st, 2025, the $1,000 USD credit will be applied at check-out. Applicants are asked to wait for the notification of award decisions before completing their RNA 2025 registration.
Note that you will not receive a confirming email when the application is submitted. A screen message “Thank you for your application. It has been sent.” indicates a successful submission.
