Transporation to Davos

The closest airport is Zürich (ZRH), located about 150 kilometers (93 miles) from Davos. Travel time will be approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. We recommend the train, especially for those who will arrive any time other than Tuesday morning or depart any time other than Sunday mid-day. The train is convenient, reliable, and runs frequently. Alternatively the RNA Society has arranged a charter bus at certain times for those who will arrive on Tuesday morning and depart on Sunday (see below for details). Rental cars or limousine service are also available. Whichever you choose, advance reservations are advised.

RNA Charter Bus – Charter bus service will be offered to Davos from Zürich Airport on Tuesday morning and from Davos to Zürich Airport on Sunday morning.  Tickets MUST BE PREPAID – no tickets will be available for sale on-site.

Tuesday, 11 June  Bus will depart from Zürich Airport at 09:30 and 12:00 (specific information about the pick-up location will be sent with your confirmation).  The charter will drop at both train stations in Davos (Platz and Dorf) and the Davos Congress Centre.
Sunday, 16 June  Bus will depart from the Kongress Hotel at 05:00 and 08:30 and may take up to 3 hours to arrive at the airport.

Rate: $45 USD (approximately 40 CHF or 35 EUR) per person each way
Reservations:  You can select and pay for the charter bus during your online conference registration. You can book one-way or roundtrip, and must reserve and pre-pay for your seat in advance.
Reservation Deadline:  30 April, 2013 or sooner if all seats are sold out
Note:  Because this bus is a charter, there is a minimum number required to go forward with the arrangements. If the minimum is not met by 30 April then you will be notified to make other arrangements and your fee will be refunded in full.

Swiss National Railway (SBB) – Trains leave every few minutes from the airport (Zürich Flughafen) for a 10-minute ride to downtown Zürich (Zürich HB). At Zürich HB you will transfer to the Davos train which leaves every hour (currently departing at 37 minutes after the hour – confirm the schedule in May 2013) and arrives in Davos approximately 2.25 hours later. Use the online timetable for more details. Midway through the trip you will change trains in Landquart, a small station that is easy to navigate. There are 2 train stations in Davos, at each end of the town – Davos Dorf and Davos Platz. Check this Davos hotel map to determine which station is closer to your hotel. Tickets can be purchased at the airport train station, which is located beneath airport check-in zone 3 (airport map), or you can book online up to 30 days in advance. Use this railway map to visualize your train route.

Returning to the airport from Davos, trains run every hour with the earliest departing from Davos Platz at 5:50 a.m. and arriving at the Zürich airport at 8:46 a.m. (this is the present schedule, subject to change).

Fare:  starting at 58 CHF per person each way

Davos Local Transportation

Davos is served by a convenient local bus system which circulates from early morning to late at night between the two train stations (Davos Dorf and Davos Platz) and beyond, along the main streets (Promenade and Talstrasse). Bus stops are marked on this Davos hotel map. When you check in at your hotel you will receive a Davos Klosters Inclusive Card, which entitles you to ride the buses free. The card is also valid for free rides on some mountain cable cars and the train between Davos and Klosters.

In addition to the bus, Davos has good taxi service. Taxis queue at each train station and you can call for service from your hotel.
